tremperi: Kenya; Type locality: Eldana River Station, Kenya  
Reproductionoviparous; the female paratype of C. tremperi (NMW) has 5 or 6 large eggs, each about 2 cm long. 
TypesHolotype: AMNH 11490; Paratypes: NHMUK 1919.6.23.5–6 (original nos. AMNH 11472 and AMNH 11521), one male and one female.
Syntypes: ZMB 22377 (only one of the two original specimens); paratypes: PEM R9166–7 (formerly AMG 4314; AMNH 11530–31) [affinis]

CommentSynonymy: following TiLBURY 2010.

Conservation: Chamaeleo (Trioceros) tremperi Necas 1994, may be extinct as the type material being old museum specimens from the beginning of the 20th century. An intense search for the species has remained unsuccessful (NECAS 2003). 
EtymologyNamed after L.: -ensis/is/e, adjectival suffix: from the Ituri region, Democratic republic of Congo (Charles Klaver, pers. comm., 11 Jan 2023).
