DistributionCuba, southern Cienfuegos and Sancti Spiritus provinces, in and adjacent to the Sierra de Trinidad.

Type locality: Near Cafetal de Gavina, Sierra de Trinidad, Sancti Spiritus Province, Cuba.

EtymologyNamed after Greek gala = milk, and Greek kelis, kelidos = stain, spot, blemish, referring to the the whitish collar of the species.
