Diagnosis | Diagnosis (genus): “Anterior maxillary and mandibular teeth longest, gradually decreasing in size. Head distinct from neck, covered with scales no rostral shield ; nostril in a single nasal. Eye moderate, with vertical pupil. Body compressed. Scales keeled. Comment | Synonymy that of PETERS & OREJAS-MIRANDA 1970. Trachyboa nests within Tropidophis and was thus synonymized with it (Zaher et al. 2024) Type species: Trachyboa gularis PETERS 1860 is the type species of the genus Trachyboa PETERS 1860, now a synonym of Tropidophis fide Zaher et al. 2024. Habitat: partly arboreal (Harrington et al. 2018). Abundance: Rare. This is one of the species called 'lost' and 'rediscovered' by Lindken et al. 2024. |
