DiagnosisDiagnosis: RODRIGUES 1987: 183.
 
CommentDiversity: Domingos et al. 2017 found 5 well-supported cryptic species within T. itambere using DNA sampling across the Brazilian Cerrado. However, they did not name or diagnose these populations morphologically.

Habitat: rocks

Diet: a large percentage of the diet of this species (10-30%) consists of ants (Lucas et al. 2023). 
Etymology“o nome da especie vem da lingua indigena tupi-guarani onde significa lagartixe de pedra.”
