Type locality: Originally, "in campis montosis Sincura provincie Bahiae". Reviewed by Rodrigues (1984) as ""Sincorá Velho, Bahia", Lat -13.5000, Long -41.6833.

Diagnosis 
CommentSynonymy: The genus Platynotus has been revalidated by SCHMIDT & INGER 1951 and by VANZOLINI et al. 1980. However, RODRIGUES (1984) noted that Platynotus is pre-occupied by a genus in Coleoptera.

Type Species: Tapinurus scutipunctatus AMARAL 1933 is the type species of the genus Tapinurus AMARAL 1933. Agama semitaeniatus SPIX 1825 is the type species of the genus Platynotus WAGLER 1830.

Habitat: rocks

Diet: a large percentage of the diet of this species (10-80%) consists of ants (Lucas et al. 2023)
