Type locality: Bu (= Bin) Ju’ay (1470 feet), desert Rub’al Khali, Hadramaut, Southern Arabia (Oman fide WILMS et al. 2002).  
ReproductionMay exhibit temperature-dependent sex determination (TSD) (WILMS 2007).

CommentDistribution: Does not occur in Yemen (fide WILMs et al. 2002). Reports from Bahrain are questionable fide WILMS et al. 2002. Not in Saudi Arabia ((Rub' al Khali desert)) fide WILMS et al. 2009.

EtymologyNamed after Bertram Thomas (1892-1950), a civil servant who served during WWl in Belgium and then in Mesopotamia (Iraq) (1916-1918).
