CommentSynonymy: Varanus chlorostigma was previously considered as a synonym of V. indicus but more recently considered as valid (e.g. by Weijola & Kraus 2023).

Distribution: see map in Weijola & Kraus 2023: 948 (Fig. 1).

Habitat: terrestrial, but may enter brackish (”marine”) habitats in the mangroves.
