Diagnosis	Diagnosis (genus): “Char. Gaumen zahnlos; Zähne konisch. Auge unter einer Ocularschuppe verborgen, nur in der Jugend durchscheinend; keine Lider. Ohröffnung angedeutet, aber durch Schuppen verdeckt. Nasenloch in das mäßig vergrößerte Rostrale eingestochen; an Stelle der Horizontalsutur von Typhlosaurus Wiegm. ein längliches, oben und unten gleichfalls vom Rostrale eingeschlossenes Postnasale. Supranasalen vorhanden, Praefrontalen und Frontoparietalen fehlen; die seitlichen Kopfschilder sind auf wenige Schuppen reduziert. Körper sehr verlängert; zwei wenig vergrößerte Analschuppen; keine Gliedmaßen; Schwanz lang. Etymology	Named after Latin mirus, mira, an adjective, meaning unexpected finding or surprise, apparently referring to the unexpected discovery of this species. The genus was named after Dr. A. Voeltzkow, Berlin, who provided (collected?) the types.
