Distribution: Specimens from the North Western Province in Zambia have been regarded as mechowii x inornatus intergrades (Broadley 1971). 
EtymologyNamed after Major Friedrich Wilhelm Alexander von Mechow (1831-1890), an explorer and naturalist who led several expeditions to Angola (1873-1882). He was born in Silesia and at a young age joined the Prussian army.
