Comment | Eiselt (1963) renamed Procteria viridis to Xenodon werneri because Xenodon viridis is preoccupied by Xenodon viridis DUMERIL & BIBRON 1854 (= Macropisthodon plumbicolor CANTOR 1839). YUKI (1993) errected a new genus, Thalesius, for Procteria, which is pre-occupied. The holotype was supposedly from Tsumeb, German Southwest Africa, but Eiselt questioned this and indicated it was possibly from South America. Relationships: Xenodon werneri appears to be very similar to X. suspectus. |
